Networks and Neighborhoods Symposium - University of Minnesota

uofmThis symposium looks interesting and will be held at the University of Minnesota . It will be hosted by three diverse departments within the University including:

Brining the diverse departments together to discuss online social networks, how they are formed, constructed, and connected is a great step since a dialogue on these topics should not be siloed in one area of educational thought. Enterprises are also working toward these same goals bringing marketing, IT, PR, and corporate development together to advance online social communication with their employees and customers.

The Network and Neighborhoods in Cyberspace conference is Monday, February 11, 8-4:30pm at the Digital Technology Center on the East Bank Campus.

On the symposium site , they list the following as discussion topics:

  • How are new forms of connectivity reshaping relationships among people and organizations and transforming the processes of discovery, learning, and communication? How are they NOT? What is the tension/debate/anxiety/excitement about the changes?
  • What are the cognitive, educational, ethical, commercial, social and political implications of intersecting physical and virtual spaces (e.g., cyberspace communities and physical neighborhoods)? Across languages and cultures?
